This interactive panel will explore evidence-based strategies and the latest research, providing practical insights from conception through to weaning.

After qualifying from Cambridge University, Pat completed her Ph.D. at the Animal Health Trust into the Equine Rhabdomyolysis Syndrome. She joined the Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition (now Waltham Petcare Science Institute) in 1995. As Director of Science for Mars Horsecare and head of the WALTHAM™ Equine Studies Group, she is responsible for their equine research conducted in collaboration with experts at institutes and universities globally. This provides the science behind the SPILLERS™, BUCKEYE™ Nutrition, and WINERGY™ brands. She is also a scientific advisor to MARS EQUESTRIAN™.

Pat is a European Specialist in Veterinary Clinical and Comparative Nutrition, an RCVS recognized specialist in veterinary clinical nutrition (equine), and a British Equine Veterinary Association Past-President. She is also a member of several international society and charity boards and holds, or has held, a number of academic posts within various institutions around the world.

Pat lectures internationally on nutrition as it affects the health, welfare, behaviour, and performance of the horse. She is the author or co-author of over 500 scientific papers, abstracts, and book chapters with recent emphasis on obesity, laminitis, and senior horse nutrition. She was the co-editor for the 2021 Veterinary Clinics of North America Equine Practice on Equine Nutrition and co-authored two chapters including one on ‘What would be good for all veterinarians to know about Equine nutrition'.

Jenny Sones graduated from Louisiana State University with her Bachelor's degree in 2004 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She was a practicing veterinarian at Delta Equine Center before pursuing a PhD in reproductive genomics, postdoctoral fellowship in equine reproductive immunology, and theriogenology residency training at Cornell University. Dr. Sones became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists in 2016. She was a faculty member at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine for eight years prior to joining the Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Laboratory in 2023 as an Associate Professor of Equine Reproduction.

Sarah graduated from Bristol University in 1983. After 4 years in general equine practice she moved to Newmarket and spent twenty years at Rossdale and Partners. She worked on the stud side of the practice where she gained her CertESM. She developed and ran the Foal Care Unit at Rossdales Equine Hospital. While at developed an interest in foal medicine and has published clinical research in this area. She then spent 3 years as a director and resident Vet to a TB stud, followed by 3 breeding seasons running reproductive services at Cheshire Equine Clinic. While was in Cheshire Sarah started to contributed to the Equine Stud Medicine modules at Liverpool University Veterinary Postgraduate Unit (VPU) . In 2016 she moved to North Yorkshire to pursue her interest in nutrition working as a veterinary nutritionist at TopSpec Equine.

Sarah joined the VPU in 2021 and continues to work as a consultant to TopSpec Equine and Hambleton Equine Clinic alongside her role as Co-ordinator of Equine Postgraduate Studies at the University of Liverpool VPU enjoying the mixture of clinical consultancy work and a role in veterinary education.
