Timo was born and spent the first 30 years of his life in Germany. After graduating from the University of Giessen’s veterinary school in 2002, he worked in private practice in North-Rhine Westphalia. In 2006, he moved to the United States where he completed an equine internship at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA. The following year, he moved to Michigan, to pursue an Equine Surgery Residency and Master in Large Animal Sciences Degree at Michigan State University. Following his residency, he joined North Carolina State University as a  Clinical Veterinarian in Equine Emergency before becoming a faculty member in 2012. Since then, his clinical work and research interest is focused on equine soft tissue surgery.
