Peter graduated from Massey University at the end of 1986, then joined Melbourne University Veterinary school in 1989 initially as a small animal surgeon, but after about 18 months changed focus to ophthalmology. Not having a full time Ophthalmology supervisor in at the University, an alternative fellowship programme was completed with extended periods away from the University with various part-time supervisors including Drs Blogg, Stanley and Smith in Australia and Severin, Roberts and Pieffer in the USA. Peter completed his, Membership and Masters in 1991, then completed his fellowship training requirements and examinations in 1993. Peter returned to NZ in 1994 and with his partner Michelle, set up NZ first stand alone, sole referral practice, The Auckland Animal Eye Centre , based in Mt Wellingon in 1996. Peters particular interests are corneal and reconstructive ocular surgery, and regularly attends and presents at meetings locally and internationally.
