Niklas qualified from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany in 2008. He performed an equine internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY USA and a large animal surgery residency at Pferdeklinik am Kottenforst in Wachtberg, Germany. Niklas became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2012, a Diplomate of the European College of Vetrinary Surgeons in 2015 and obtained a doctoral degree from the University Berlin, Germany in 2012.

After his residency he joined the staff of the equine department of Dierenkliniek Emmeloord, Netherlands before he started working for Tierklinik Lüsche in Germany. Since 2017 Niklas is a shareholder of Tierklinik Lüsche.

His focus is on orthopedics, sport horse medicine and orthopedic surgery.
