Mikael Holmstroem

Mikael is a Swedish veterinarian and a long-time partner at Equine Analysis with a Ph.D. in equine biomechanics from the University of Uppsala. Since 1996, Dr. Holmstroem has been a prominent speaker at international conferences on horse physiology and locomotion. He has authored numerous papers on these topics and was recently featured in the publication Equine Locomotion.

Mikael is the chief developer of Fotoselect®, and his current research focuses on phenotypic heritability. He holds both a Doctorate and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. In addition to his veterinary expertise, Mikael is a skilled mathematician and programmer.

He compiles and analyzes data from StrideSAFE sensors to detect movement abnormalities and stride changes. Mikael leads the research effort in identifying early signs of pathology in the stride of racing thoroughbreds.
