Marta graduated in veterinary medicine at the University of Milan, Italy in 2003. She went through a period of specialisation and research in the field of equine reproduction at the University of Milan, attending the 2004 and 2006 breeding seasons at Rossdales Equine Hospital, Newmarket, UK and the 2005 breeding season at the Arcadia Equine Centre, Vigone, Italy. Marta obtained a PhD in Veterinary Science at the University of Milan in 2006. Since January 2007 she has worked at Utrecht University as Assistant Professor in Equine Reproduction and she became a Diplomate of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR, Equine) and of the Royal Dutch Veterinary Association (KNMvD, Equine Reproduction) in 2009.
Marta’s main interests are infertility problems in mares and stallions and surgery of the genital tract. She is also an active researcher in the field of implantation failure and epigenetics during early equine pregnancy. Marta has published several clinical articles in peer-reviewed veterinary journals and lectures regularly at national and international courses/conferences on equine reproduction.
