Markus qualified from Hannover Veterinary School in 1993. After graduate studies and a thesis in molecular microbiology he joined the Equine Veterinary Hospital Arundel/West Sussex/UK. From there he took off for a LA Surgery Residency at Cornell University/USA before spending some time deep south as a professor at Louisiana State University/USA. After his return to Europe he worked at different private and university hospitals in Germany, Switzerland and Sweden. From 2011-2014 he was Program Head of the Preclinical Research Department at the AO Research Institute in Davos/Switzerland. Markus is an active Diplomate of the ACVS and ECVS and an Equine Specialist in Germany, from where he continues to work as consultant with a strong interest in orthopaedics, minimally invasive surgery and regenerative medicine. He is involved in numerous preclinical and clinical research projects and is a frequent lecturer on workshops.
