Katrien Vanderperren

Katrien Vanderperren graduated with great distinction as a veterinarian from the University of Ghent, Belgium, in 2005. Following her graduation, she started her PhD research in the Department of Veterinary Medical Imaging at Ghent University. In May 2009, she successfully completed her PhD on the possibilities and limitations of imaging the equine fetlock joint using different imaging techniques (radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography and arthroscopy). Since 2014, she has been a professor in Diagnostic imaging and leads the large animal imaging team at Ghent University. She became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2020. Her research interests include the added value of Dual-Energy computed tomography in detecting bone marrow edema and soft tissue lesions, as well as clinical research in computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in horses. Katrien has (co-)authored more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed veterinary journals and is a speaker at national and international conferences and courses.
