Dr Diane D. Addie is an independent veterinary virologist who has a special interest in infectious diseases of the cat. Her goals are to eradicate feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and to find a cure for chronic feline gingivostomatitis (FGS). Her dream is to see an end of all animal suffering.
She is Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow Veterinary School, where, until 2006, she was head of the Diagnostic Veterinary Virology laboratory. She is director of the Feline Institute Pyrenees in France and author of the website www.catvirus.com which aims to provide veterinary surgeons with information which is difficult to source elsewhere, especially on FIP and FGS and genetic disease of the cat. She is author of over 40 papers published in refereed veterinary and scientific journals, many chapters for veterinary textbooks and e-books for cat guardians.and she has recently launched a You Tube channel.
Diane D. Addie served on the council of Cats Protection for 20 years and is now a patron of the Celia Hammond Animal Trust. She is a member of the European Advisory Board of Cat Disease.
All her research has been on naturally infected animals. In 2003 she received the Amoroso award for for outstanding contributions to small animal studies by a non-clinical member of university staff.
