Dr.med.vet

Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany

Bettina completed her studies at the University of Hanover in January 1993 and then moved to Munich to write her doctoral thesis. In 1993, she worked as a locum doctor and then began working as a veterinarian at the University of Munich (LMU) equine clinic. She completed her doctoral thesis in 1995 (topic: ERU) and her postdoctoral thesis in 1992 (topic also ERU). She qualified as a professor of “equine diseases” and was appointed as a private lecturer. In the early years, she treated horses with all kinds of diseases except reproductive problems, and later her focus shifted to all types of equine surgery. As the number of equine patients with eye diseases increased, ophthalmology became her main area of expertise. Since 2019, Bettina has been mainly involved in ophthalmology and some other surgeries. She has several teaching assignments for students at LMU, gives lectures at national and international conferences, publishes in professional journals, writes book chapters, and continues to research the etiopathogenesis of ERU.
