Dr. Jonathan Dear is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery in southern California before completing his residency in small animal medicine at UC Davis. Dr. Dear is board certified in small animal internal medicine.

He currently serves as an assistant professor of clinical internal medicine, and provides the school with small animal internal medicine expertise in support of clinical teaching and service. His clinical interests include minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, lower urinary disease and the application of One Health principles to underserved communities. His research interests include canine blood-borne infections and systemic fungal disease. Dr. Dear is a scholar in the mentored clinical research training program at the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center.

Dr. Fischetti is the Department Head of Radiology and Radiation Safety Officer at Animal Medical Center (AMC). He received his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Cornell University (1997, 2001), internship training at the University of Pennsylvania (2001-2002), and Residency/Master’s Degree from Ohio State University (2002-2015). He is an executive council member of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) and Webmaster of the ACVR.com website. He is the resident director for the AMC’s Diagnostic Imaging Residency, Adjunct Professor of Radiology at Western University Veterinary College, and overseas teaching of over 50 interns, residents and students each year at AMC. Dr. Fischetti speaks nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to veterinary radiology.

Virginia graduated from Cambridge Veterinary School in 1984. She spent five years in practice (obtaining RCVS Certificates in Radiology and Small Animal Cardiology) before becoming a Lecturer in Veterinary Cardiology at the University of Edinburgh (obtaining the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Cardiology in 1992). She was awarded the PDSA Scholarship between 1992-1995 towards a PhD in the echocardiographic assessment of canine dilated cardiomyopathy, and gained RCVS Specialist status in Veterinary Cardiology in 1994.

Virginia moved to the University of Missouri, Columbia as an Assistant Professor in 1997, and then in 2001 became a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine until joining the Royal Veterinary College in 2004. She was awarded the British Small Animal Veterinary Association Woodrow award for outstanding contributions in the field of small animal veterinary medicine in 2006, and was Chair of the Cardiology Specialty of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine from 2012-2018.

Dr. Hoareau graduated from the Toulouse National Veterinary School. He is board-certified by the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He completed his residency at the University of California-Davis. He obtained a Ph.D. from the same institution in collaboration with the US Air Force. He also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship with the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education in partnership with the US Air Force.

He currently serves as an Assistant Professor with the Emergency Medicine Division at the University of Utah, School of Medicine. Dr. Hoareau is an investigator at the Nora Eccles Cardiovascular Research Training Institute. His research focuses on mitigating ischemia-reperfusion following hemorrhagic shock and cardiac arrest with a special interest in resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. His benchtop interest revolves around evaluating mitochondrial injury. Dr. Hoareau continues to care for critically ill animals in specialty hospitals in the Salt Lake City area.
