CONTENT DESCRIPTION
An international panel of world-renowned small animal specialists from different disciplines, consisting of a Cardiologist, Internist, and Radiologist will discuss chest x-rays in dogs and cats. They will focus on essential clinical dilemmas that are often encountered while caring for small animal patients. A board-certified Emergency and Critical Care specialist will be the ‘peacekeeper’, moderating the exchanges and will challenge the panelists with a series of discussion points, amongst them:
- Differentiation of cardiac and non-cardiac causes of respiratory disease
- How do radiographs affect therapeutic management in acute vs. chronic conditions?
- Heart disease
- Should we use the vertebral heart score?
- Sedation for thoracic radiography in cats with cardiac disease
- Can cardiogenic pulmonary edema be present without left atrial enlargement?
- Airway and non-cardiogenic parenchymal disease
- Airway collapse: what is the gold standard for diagnosis
- Coughing cats: do radiographs actually help?
- Feline lower airway disease versus pneumonia
- Mediastinal/pleural disease
- What is the role of radiography?
- Indications for thoracic CT
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Benefits of radiography
