CONTENT DESCRIPTION

In human medicine 70% of all FDA approved AI aids center around imaging. This case-based, interactive panel discussion will focus on the validation, advantages, disadvantages and risks of AI tools in veterinary imaging. A brief background on “how AI in imaging works” will also be included.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Fischetti has dedicated his talents to the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC), where he has transformed the Department of Diagnostic Imaging into a leading veterinary imaging service. 

Dr. Fischetti earned both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Cornell University ('97, '01) before completing his internship at the University of Pennsylvania ('02) and his Residency/Master’s Degree at The Ohio State University ('02-'05).

As the Residency Director of AMC’s Diagnostic Imaging Residency, he plays a crucial role in mentoring and inspiring interns and residents, cultivating an enriching learning environment. In addition to his work at AMC, Dr. Fischetti is the owner and chief radiologist of Veterinary Imaging of New York (VINY). VINY has been a vital resource for veterinarians across New York City, providing expert imaging interpretation services. 

A prolific contributor to veterinary medicine, Dr. Fischetti has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications. He is also an engaged member of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, currently serving as the webmaster for ACVR.org. 

Dr. Fischetti’s unwavering dedication to partnering with veterinarians, along with his commitment to education and professional growth, continues to make a profound impact in New York City.

Dr. Thompson earned her DVM degree from the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, completed a rotating internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, and her residency training at the University of Florida. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology. A member of the Cornell faculty since 2006, Dr. Thompson holds an appointment with the Department of Clinical Sciences as Associate Clinical Professor, Section of Imaging, and currently serves as Associate Dean of Hospital Operations and Corporate Relations, and Director of the Cornell University Hospital for Animals.

Dr. Wilson was awarded her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine; after which she completed her residency in radiology at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and subsequently achieving board certification in the American College of Veterinary Radiology. After a year as a research fellow at the Scott-Ritchey Research Center, she returned to teach at Tuskegee. Dr. Wilson left academia in 2012 and joined the AIS team where she served as staff radiologist for six years, then AIS Director of Academic & Scientific Affairs for five years. Now in 2023, Dr. Wilson has moved her focus to research and development with concentration on AIS’ machine learning (ML) projects. Dr. Wilson places the utmost importance in ensuring that technological advancements like ML are developed with patient care as the pinnacle. She is excited about her role and taking part in advancing the radiology profession into the next phase.
