Lauren is an Associate Professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery in the Department of Clinical Sciences at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. She is also an Associate Director of the Comparative Medicine Institute at NCSU. Lauren completed her DVM, Large Animal Surgery Residency, and PhD at Cornell University under the mentorship of Dr. Lisa Fortier and Dr. Douglas Antczak. She is board certified in both the American College of Veterinary Surgery and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Lauren’s research focuses on stem cell immunology, use of biologic therapies to treat musculoskeletal injuries and diseases, and advancing equine rehabilitation protocols.
In February of 2019, Lauren was named an NC State University Faculty Scholar.
In April of 2020, Lauren received the Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence.
Dr. McClure received his veterinary degree from Iowa State University in 1990. He then completed an internship and surgery residency at Texas A&M. Dr. McClure became certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1995 and received his PhD from Texas A&M in 1996. He was in private practice in Oklahoma then returned to university practice at Purdue University. Dr. McClure was at Iowa State University from 2000 to 2016 specializing in equine lameness and surgery. He then returned to private practice and established Midwest Equine, a surgery and sports medicine facility in Central Iowa. Dr. McClure became an American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation diplomate in 2015. He has published many peer review articles and has presented scientific and continuing education seminars nationally and internationally.
