Dr. Petersen graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany in 1991 and completed her dissertation in 1992 from CVM Hannover, Germany (equal to a master’s degree in the United States). Dr. Petersen completed a rotating small-animal medicine and surgery internship at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University in 1993, as well as continuing to do some relief work in small-animal practices in Germany during 1993. Subsequently, she worked in private practice in the state of Washington and Idaho from 1994-95 and then completed the Veterinary Dermatology Residency Training Program at Michigan State University from 1995-97. She has been an assistant professor of veterinary dermatology at MSU since 1998 and completed her board certification in veterinary dermatology in 2004.

Dr. Petersen has been presenting lectures and research presentations to veterinarians and veterinary students nationally and internationally since 1996. Clinical and research interests: allergic skin diseases, autoimmune skin diseases, otitis externa and media, the treatment of mycosis fungoides (cutaneous lymphoma), with a focus on equine skin diseases.

Derek qualified from Edinburgh University in 1970 and after a period in research, spent 12 years in private practice. During this time he developed a keen interest in equine medicine and in 1985 he joined the academic world. Derek moved to Liverpool in 1989 and has since become Professor in Equine Internal Medicine. He has published widely in the scientific and lay press and is the author of 10 recognised text books. Derek has received international awards for his welfare work, his science and in 2005 he was honoured with an OBE by the Queen for his services to the horse. He is involved with national and international equine welfare and other charities. Derek's main professional interests are in oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology and wound management.

Prof. Marianne M. Sloet van Oldruitenborgh-Oosterbaan, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ECEIM, Spec. KNMvD Equine Internal Medicine, graduated in 1982 cum laude at Utrecht University. She obtained her PhD in 1990 with a thesis entitled "Heart rate and blood lactate in exercising horses". In 1982-1983 she worked part-time in a general practice and part-time at the Department of Large Animal Medicine, Utrecht University.

Since 1983 she has worked full time at the University. Between 1996 and 2006 dr. Sloet was head of the Equine Internal Medicine Clinic and presently she is professor of Equine Medicine in the Department of Equine Sciences. In 2001 dr. Sloet became an Invited Diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM). She was president of this College for 7 years, served 3 years as past-president and is now a honorary member of this college. Presently, she is president of the Board of Animal Arbitrage of the Netherlands, president of the Equine Health group of Sectorraad Paarden (SRP), member of the Council for Animal Affairs and member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee for Infectious Diseases. Prof. Sloet is also veterinary advisor of the Dutch National Equestrian Federation (KNHS) and the Dutch Warmblood studbook (KWPN).

She acts regularly as FEI Veterinary Delegate at international horse shows and is FEI head veterinarian for the Netherlands since 2001. Her topics of interest are equine exercise physiology, dermatology, forensic medicine and emerging diseases. Her hobbies are her family, wild life photography, scuba diving and some pleasure riding.

Dr. White became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 1983. A graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California at Davis, he also did his internship and dermatology residency. He has held faculty positions at Tufts’ School of Veterinary Medicine and Colorado State’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences before joining the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis as a full Professor in 1998.

Dr. White has twice been a sabbatical professor at the National School of Veterinary Medicine in Nantes, France.

His areas of interests include food allergy, cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease, rabbit/rodent dermatology, and equine dermatology. Dr. White has published over 100 scientific papers in refereed journals.
