CONTENT DESCRIPTION

In this panel discussion, four veterinary specialists with knowledge and interest in equine skin diseases will debate interesting cases.

  • Annette Peterson DACVD, Assoc. Prof. in Equine Skin Diseases, Michigan State University
  • Derek Knottenbelt DECEIM, DACVIM, Emeritus Prof. in Equine Internal Medicine, Univ. of Liverpool
  • Stephen White DACVD, Prof. in Medicine & Epidemiology, Univ. of California
  • Marianne Sloet DECEIM, DECVSMR, Prof. in Equine Internal Medicine, Utrecht Univ. (moderator)

Each panelist will present interesting cases, while the other panel members will attempt to determine what’s wrong with the horse and come up with a final diagnosis. The aim is to show how a tentative diagnosis can be confirmed through a good clinical examination and if necessary, the choice of the right laboratory test(s). The importance of keeping within the owner’s budget will also be considered. After confirmation of the final diagnosis, different treatment options and prognoses will be debated keeping in mind that ‘many roads lead to Rome’.
