A specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports-medicine Dr. Zaslav had been in practice with a large single specialty Orthopedic group for 30 years in Richmond Virginia before joining the Northwell/Lenox Hill faculty practice. He was the founding member of the Sports Medicine Center and Cartilage Repair Center at Advanced Orthopedic Centers (Now Ortho Virginia) in Richmond VA, and a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr Zaslav's focus has been on shoulder and knee surgery and well as injuries to athletes and dancers for his entire practice. He has published extensively both on shoulder injuries and sports medicine topics. Most recently over the past decade his research interest has been in cartilage repair and Joint Preservation and he is now involved in Orthobiologic and Stem cell research. Dr Zaslav performed the first Autologous Cartilage transplant in Virginia in 1996 and has served as President of the International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society , a society of clinicians and scientists based in Zurich Sw, devoted to clinical and basic science research to preserve joints and function in patients with cartilage injury and early arthritis. He is currently The Secretary General of the Biologic Association based in the USA, a group made up of all the Orthopedic sub-specialty societies dedicated to speaking with a single academic voice on Stem cell and Regenerative Med topics in Orthopedics and Rehab.

His treatment philosophy includes involving patients in their decision making and using both operative and non-operative treatments including Physical therapy, strength training along with appropriate non-invasive procedures to maintain a healthy lifestyle and maximize athletic function in his patients.

Lauren is an Associate Professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery in the Department of Clinical Sciences at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. She is also an Associate Director of the Comparative Medicine Institute at NCSU. Lauren completed her DVM, Large Animal Surgery Residency, and PhD at Cornell University under the mentorship of Dr. Lisa Fortier and Dr. Douglas Antczak. She is board certified in both the American College of Veterinary Surgery and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Lauren’s research focuses on stem cell immunology, use of biologic therapies to treat musculoskeletal injuries and diseases, and advancing equine rehabilitation protocols.

In February of 2019, Lauren was named an NC State University Faculty Scholar.

In April of 2020, Lauren received the Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence.

Dr. Fortier is the James Law Professor of Surgery at Cornell University and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cartilage and Joint Preservation. She received her doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) from Colorado State University in 1991, and then completed an equine surgery internship at Illinois Equine Hospital. She completed a surgical residency and PhD at Cornell University. She is the Director of Equine Programs and Associate Chair for Graduate Education and Research at Cornell University. Dr. Fortier holds clinics and performs surgery in the Equine Clinic at Cornell in Ithaca, NY, and as a Staff Surgeon at the Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists hospital in Elmont, NY. Dr. Fortier’s primary clinical and translational research interests are in equine orthopedic surgery, tendonitis, and arthritis with expertise in regenerative medicine including platelet rich plasms (PRP), stem cells, and IRAP. She has authored over 200 scientific papers and book chapters on topics related to regenerative medicine, arthritis, and tendonitis.

Marc Koene is one of the owners of Tierklinik Lüsche, a 28-vet equine practice in Germany. After his study of veterinary medicine he did the German track for Equine Veterinary Specialist. Marc is the team Veterinarian for Equestrian Sports (DOKR) of the German dressage team and Team USA eventing when they are in Europe. Furthermore he is an International Equestrian Federation (FEI) veterinarian and got his certificate as Chiropractor (IAVC, IACV certificated). Recently he entered the veterinary scientific board of the International Association of Laser Therapy.
