John graduated from University College Dublin UCD with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2005. He icompleted a 1 year surgery internship in Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. Returning to Ireland in 2006, John took up an ambulatory position at O Byrne and Halley in Fethard, Co. Tipperary and has continued working there ever since. The majority of his work is focused on the Racehorse and Sales work with particular interest in Two year old Breeze-up, Yearling and foal sales.

After graduating from the University of Sydney in 1987, Jonathan completed an internship under Professor David Hutchins BVSc at the University of Sydney. Subsequently, he went into general equine practice in Canberra until commencing an equine surgical residency at Michigan State University, USA. Jonathan completed a 3 year surgical residency and a Master’s Degree in the evaluation and surgery of the horse’s upper respiratory tract. He was awarded the best resident scientific presentation by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1993. He subsequently worked as an emergency equine surgeon at Michigan State University and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1994. Following this, he fulfilled a clinical appointment at Colorado State University before becoming the resident surgeon at REC in Sydney, Australia in 1994.

Jonathan is a surgeon and partner of the REC Equine Specialists where his practice includes referral surgery and lameness as well as routine racetrack practice. He is actively involved in the REC Equine internship and residency training program which has trained over 40 interns that have gone on to post-graduate residency programs and private practice. Jonathan has served as an executive of the peak body representing equine veterinarians throughout Australia - Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA) and was EVA President in 2006. He has been the recipient of the AEVA Reginald Pascoe Senior Clinical Prize, EVA Award for Excellence in the Equine Veterinary Field (Provet Award) and an Australian Veterinary Association Meritorious Service Award. He has authored and co-authored numerous refereed scientific articles and book chapters. Jonathan has a special interest in equine upper respiratory tract and arthroscopic surgery.

Pete graduated from the University of Sydney 1994. He subsequently worked in the cattle industry in the Kimberley region of Northern Australia before moving to the UK in 1996. Here, he gained experience in large animal practice in the West Country (Kingston Vets, Sherborne and Horsepond Vets, South Molton) before joining the racing team at Rossdale & Partners in Newmarket in 1998. He became a partner in 2005.

Pete's clinical research interest is the early detection and improved management of racehorse orthopaedic injuries. In August 2014, CRC Press published his book The Racehorse: A Veterinary Manual - the first comprehensive textbook wholly dedicated to veterinary management of the racehorse.

In 2018 Pete was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) for Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice. Fellowship is the highest level of membership of the RCVS for members who have demonstrated significant original contribution in their subject.

Dr. Scott Pierce obtained his undergraduate degree from Northwest Missouri State. He then attended veterinary school at the University of Missouri and graduated in 1983. Dr. Pierce began working at Rood & Riddle in 1985 and later became a shareholder. Special interests of his include working with juvenile Thoroughbreds, upper airway endoscopy, public and private sales. Dr. Pierce is married to Dr. Debbie Spike-Pierce, a shareholder at Rood & Riddle. Together, they own a Thoroughbred farm and have two daughters, Vivian and Audra.
