EVENT DESCRIPTION
VetPD has combined an exhilarating 5-day-long skiing experience at the Spa Hotel Seiblishof **** in Ischgl, near Innsbruck in the Austrian Alps, with a total of 24+ hours of skiing and 20 hours of cutting-edge lectures & case discussions (RACE-accredited) for attendees to choose from.
The following internationally renowned speakers will be involved with this event and are aiming their lectures at experienced general and advanced practitioners: Drs. Lauren Schnabel DACVS, DACVSMR (USA), Kurt Selberg DACVR (USA), Bettina Dunkel DACVIM/DECEIM & DACVECC (UK), Silvia Stadler Dr.med.vet, DACVO (Austria).

From Sun – Wed there will be a total of 6-7 hrs of skiing per day with the lectures held between 7:00 - 9:00am and 4:00 - 7:00pm. Every day attendees can choose from two streams of highly illustrated lectures (in English) on a wide range of current topics covering:
- Ophthalmology
- Distal Limb Imaging: Ultrasound, Radiography, CT
- Regenerative Medicine incl. Imaging-Guided Injection
- Orthopaedics: Lameness Investigation, Rehabilitation & Emergencies
- Internal Medicine: Management of Medical Emergencies & the Neonate
- Poor Performance: Upper Limb & Axial Skeleton
The evenings will be free for leisurely wining and dining, to meet up with old friends and to make new ones.
During the event open and frank discussions are encouraged and the speakers will share their personal experiences with attendees, be it successes or failures. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss diagnostic/therapeutic strategies and cases with the speakers during the lectures or the dedicated case discussions.
On Thursday there won’t be any lectures or practical sessions, which will allow attendees and their partners/guests for a final dash on the piste before heading home.
*The event fee includes accommodation, breakfast & dinner (excluding drinks), all lectures as well as extensive event notes and a certificate of attendance. Attendees can choose to stay in a single room or can share a room with another attendee at a reduced price. Attendees are also welcome to attend the event with a partner/guest (special guest price available). The event fee does not include flights, airport transfers, ski-passes, lunch or alcoholic drinks. Rooms are allocated at the discretion of VetPD. Early event registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available.

- VetPD Ltd, accepts liability for the event program only (lectures & practical sessions)
- Liability for accommodation, meals and all other pre-booked components rest with the Hotel Seiblishof Ischgl.
- Attendees are expected to take out comprehensive medical and travel insurance in the event of unforeseen circumstances leading to attendees falling ill or having to cancel their trip to Austria.
Bettina graduated from The Free University of Berlin in 2001. Following a Dorothy Havemeyer fellowship at Tufts University, Bettina completed a rotating equine internship at the Marion duPont Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA and a large animal internal medicine and emergency and critical care residency (alternate track) at the University of Pennsylvania and has been a member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care since 2005. After moving to the UK, Bettina attained her PhD, focusing on equine platelet and neutrophil function, from the University of London in 2008. Bettina has been employed at the Royal Veterinary College since 2008 and is now an Associate Professor in Equine medicine.
More InfoLauren is an Associate Professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery in the Department of Clinical Sciences at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. She is also an Associate Director of the Comparative Medicine Institute at NCSU. Lauren completed her DVM, Large Animal Surgery Residency, and PhD at Cornell University under the mentorship of Dr. Lisa Fortier and Dr. Douglas Antczak. She is board certified in both the American College of Veterinary Surgery and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Lauren’s research focuses on stem cell immunology, use of biologic therapies to treat musculoskeletal injuries and diseases, and advancing equine rehabilitation protocols.
In February of 2019, Lauren was named an NC State University Faculty Scholar.
In April of 2020, Lauren received the Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence.
More InfoKurt Selberg is a North Idaho native; where his family owned a quarter horse ranch. After completing his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Washington State University, he completed an equine sports medicine internship at Virginia Equine Imaging in Middleburg, VA. He received his training in diagnostic imaging from Colorado State University and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiologists. Following his residency he completed fellowship in advanced imaging with training from Colorado State University and from Musculoskeletal Radiologists in Fort Collins, CO. He was an Assistant Professor of equine diagnostic imaging at the University of Georgia for 4 years before returning to an equine diagnostic imaging position at Colorado State University in September of 2016. His area of interest is the equine athlete and musculoskeletal diagnostic imaging. Dr. Selberg is a certified member and lecturer at many of the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology continuing education events. He is also an FEI treating veterinarian. Most recently, he was the on site imaging consultant for the 2018 World Equestrian Games. Aside from radiology, he also enjoys skiing , jiu jitsu, fishing, spending time with good friends and family, his lovely wife Katie and 2 children, and two yellow dogs.
More InfoAfter studying veterinary medicine and an internship at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Dr. Silvia Stadler spent 8 years at Tillysburg Equine Clinic. In 2011, she received her doctorate in Vienna and in 2012 she qualified as an equine veterinarian. From 2013 to 2017 she trained as an international ophthalmologist for animals under Prof. Bernhard Spiess at the Vetsuisse Zurich, Switzerland. In 2019 she graduated with the title DACVO (Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology). After 5 years of independent consulting work as a veterinary ophthalmologist in Switzerland, she returned to her home country of Austria. In 2022, she became a partner at Tillysburg Equine Clinic and, as an international eye specialist with a focus on horses, is setting up an eye clinic for horses and small animals (dogs, cats, exotic animals, birds).
