VetPD presents an extraordinary all-inclusive week-long educational retreat, seamlessly blending exhilarating watersports experiences with 24 hours of cutting-edge lectures and engaging case discussions (RACE-accredited). Embark on this enriching journey alongside internationally renowned speakers: Dr. Florent David (DACVS/ECVS, DACVSMR/ECVSMR) of EquiTom (Belgium), Dr. David Bardell (DECVAA) from the University of Liverpool (UK), and Dr. Vanessa Peter (Dipl.ECVDI) from Rossdales Equine Diagnostic Centre (UK).

Arrive on Sunday to start your adventure. From Monday to Thursday, immerse yourself in lectures from 8:45 AM to 3 PM, followed by afternoons of watersports and beachside relaxation. Evenings are yours to indulge in leisurely wining and dining, reconnecting with old friends and forging new connections. Friday offers a day to explore further or simply unwind by the sea. The course concludes on Saturday, though you're welcome to extend your stay at the exclusive group rate.

Attendees can choose to stay in a single Luxury Grand Pool or can share a suite with another attendee at a reduced rate.  You are also welcome to attend the course with a partner/guest or as a family (special guest price available).  There is also a special kids program organised at the Krabi Resort****.  Secure your spot early, as space is limited for this exclusive event.

*The event fee includes airport transfers, accommodation, all meals (incl. tea/coffee and one soft drink per meal), all lectures as well as extensive event notes and a certificate of attendance. Attendees can choose to stay in a single room or can share a room with another attendee at a reduced price.  Attendees are also welcome to attend the event with a partner/guest (special guest price available).  The event fee does not include flights, diving equipment or any excursions. Rooms are allocated at the discretion of VetPD. Early event registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available.

Course-Specific Terms & Conditions:

  1. These terms and conditions supersede VetPD’s regular Terms & Conditions listed on the website (http://www.vetpd.com/terms-conditions.php) where they differ and are otherwise valid in conjunction with the regular Terms & Conditions. 
  2. VetPD Ltd., accepts liability for the course program only consisting of the lectures.
  3. Liability for airport transfer, accommodation, meals and all other pre-booked components rest with Krabi Resort. Cancellation of these components of the course is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Krabi Resort.
  4. Attendees are expected to take out comprehensive medical and travel insurance in the event of unforeseen circumstances leading to attendee falling ill before, during or after the course or having to cancel their trip to Thailand.  VetPD cannot be held responsible for any illnesses or medical conditions that attendees develop during or after the course. 
  5. It is the responsibility of the Attendee to check their government’s health advice for traveling to Thailand; in particular the advice with regards to rabies and the Zika Virus. 
  6. The event fee includes airport transfers, accommodation, all meals (incl. tea/coffee and two alcoholic drinks wine/beer) with dinner), all lectures as well as extensive event notes and a certificate of attendance. 
  7. Some alcoholic beverages are not part of the all-inclusive price. Check before ordering, whether purchase will be added to attendee room bill.

Cancellation before 15 August 2024:  A full refund will be made less a 10% administrative charge.  Cancellation after 15 August 2024:  No refunds can be guaranteed, however if there is a waiting list for the course then VetPD will make every effort to resell the place to an individual on the waiting list and an administrative fee of 15% will be charged.  If there is no waiting list for the course then no refund will be given; the course space can however be transferred to another veterinarian free of charge. 

David graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1998. After 8 years in predominantly equine practice, he returned to Liverpool as a clinical anaesthetist in 2006, gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 2007 and the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia Diploma in 2011 and was subsequently appointed as Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia.

In 2016, David stepped out of his full time clinical and teaching role to undertake a 3 year period of research into the molecular mechanisms involved in tendon disease, within the Department of Musculoskeletal Biology. Returning to clinical duties in 2020, he subsequently became Head of the Large Animal Anaesthesia service.

David is a European and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Specialist in Equine Anaesthesia and Analgesia and is a member of the ECVAA examination committee. David has a wide range of clinical interests, has conducted several research projects within the Equine Hospital, and published on a range of anaesthesia and critical care subjects, as well as presenting his research, and being invited to speak, at several international conferences. He is also a member of the ‘Vets with Horsepower’ charity, which delivers CPD lectures to equine vets worldwide, raining money for veterinary and human charities in the process.

Florent David graduated from the National Veterinary School of Lyon, France in 2001. He subsequently completed an Internship (2001-02) and then a Residency program (2003-06) in Equine Surgery at the University of Montreal, Saint-Hyacinthe, Canada. During his Residency Florent completed a Master degree (MSc) on cartilage cytokine expression and osteoarthritis (2007) in Dr Sheila Laverty's laboratory.

He then took up a one year position (2006-07) as a Clinical Instructor in Equine Surgery and Lameness in the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital of the University of Montreal. He became a board certified specialist with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) - Large Animal (Equine) and with the European College of European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in 2007. He then moved to the Republic of Ireland in September 2007 and took on the position of Lecturer in Large Animal Surgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. Since September 2009 Florent is enrolled in a part-time PhD programme at Utrecht University, The Netherlands which focuses on equine tendon repair.

In September 2011, Florent was granted recognition by the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging as ECVDI Associate Member (Large Animals) for his active contribution in the field of equine ultrasonography. From 2014 to 2016 Florent worked as an equine surgeon at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, New Jersey, USA.  In spring 2016 Florent was offered the job of Equine Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist at Bjerke Dyrehospital, in Oslo, Norway which is the leading equine referral hospital in Norway.  On a day to day basis Florent works in equine surgery and has specific clinical interests in ultrasonography and lameness investigation, as well as minimal invasive surgery (laparoscopy, arthroscopy & thoracoscopy). Florent has published more than 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has given more than 50 presentations at national and international meetings.

Florent then spent several years at Equine Veterinary Medical Center, Al Shaqab - a Member of Qatar Foundation and is now at EquiTom in Belgium.

Vanessa is Head of Diagnostic Imaging at Rossdales Equine Diagnostic Centre. She rejoined the practice in June 2019 after spending the previous ten months as Senior Lecturer and Clinician responsible for the Large Animal Diagnostic Service at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Bern, Switzerland. She became a Clinical Director in 2021.

Vanessa graduated in 2011 from the University of Bern and subsequently undertook internships at Rossdales and at a large equine hospital in Florida, USA before returning to Rossdales as an orthopaedic assistant in 2013. She has a keen interest in all diagnostic imaging modalities and is passionate about their use in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders in particular.

Vanessa successfully completed a residency in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging with the European College (ECVDI) under the guidance of veterinary specialists at Rossdales Equine Diagnostic Centre and Dick White Specialist Referrals. She became a Diplomate of ECVDI in February 2020 and was awarded RCVS recognised specialist status in March 2020.
