Part of the Cranial Cruciate Ligament Injury – The definitive and Comprehensive Online Resource covering CCL Rupture from ‘A’ like Aetiopathogenesis to ‘Z’ like Zero-Degree Arthroscope… Online Lecture Series

CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Meniscal injury commonly occurs concurrently with cranial cruciate ligament disease or as an isolated event and can result in significant patient morbidity. This module will use an evidence-based approach to compare and contrast arthroscopy and arthrotomy approaches to meniscal evaluation and treatment. Tips and tricks to improve meniscal visualization and treatment while minimizing iatrogenic damage will also be presented.

Caleb Hudson is a native of southern Louisiana but grew up in southern Missouri on a small farm and developed a strong interest in caring for animals through the practical application of science. While in veterinary school at the University of Missouri he gained a fascination with veterinary surgery and after completion of his DVM degree in 2007 moved to Gainesville, Florida to complete a rotating internship followed by a small animal surgery residency and masters program at the University of Florida. Post residency, he stayed on faculty at the University of Florida until 2013 when he moved to Texas to work in private practice, first at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston and then at Nexus Veterinary Specialists in Victoria. In 2025, Dr. Hudson moved to San Mateo to help found the surgery service at Omega Veterinary Group.

The surgery residency and subsequent years in practice as a surgeon have stoked Dr. Hudson’s early fascination with surgery into what has become a lifelong passion to excel in the field of orthopedic surgery. Dr. Hudson is passionate about teaching and is frequently an invited speaker at national and international meetings on topics relating to orthopedic surgery. He also spends a significant amount of time teaching orthopedic surgery courses all over the world. In addition to performing and teaching surgery, Dr. Hudson has a strong interest in clinical and benchtop research, particularly research that leads to improvements in surgical techniques and surgical outcomes. He is actively involved in developing a robust clinical research program at Omega Veterinary Group. Dr. Hudson has published numerous peer reviewed journal articles stemming from his research and has also authored numerous book chapters on orthopedic surgery topics. In recognition of his surgical, research and teaching accomplishments, Dr. Hudson was awarded Founding Fellow status in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Small Animal Orthopedics) in 2021 and Founding Fellow status in Joint Replacement Surgery in 2023 by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Dr. Hudson enjoys working together with his wife Dr. Audrey Hudson and they devote the majority of their time and efforts to the field of veterinary medicine. Outside of work in the veterinary field, they enjoy traveling and outdoor activities.
