Part of the Equine Computed Tomography (CT) Image Interpretation & Clinical Applications Online Lecture Series

CONTENT DESCRIPTION

This introductory module will take you through the relevant fundamentals of Computed Tomography (CT) in an accessible and practical way, as well as equipping you with knowledge on each of the different systems available.

Our expert speakers will guide you through the origins and physics behind CT, common artefacts, and how CT machines are composed and operated. You’ll also learn how to optimise image quality, the role of filtering and windowing, and the use of contrast with real-life case examples.

To round off the session, the different equine CT systems will be introduced, with a discussion on their advantages and limitations in clinical practice.

Elisabetta qualified in 2006 at the University of Padova (Italy). After completing a stud season in Ireland she served her equine internship at Donnington Grove Veterinary Group (UK) from 2008 to 2010, before returning to Ireland as a racing vet. Elisabetta re-joined Donnington Grove in April 2011 as an Equine Assistant and completed her certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice from the University of Liverpool in 2015. Elisabetta's main interest lies in imaging and for the previous 8 years she has been interpreting MRI images for Donnington Grove and Bourton Vale Equine Hospital before joining the Royal Veterinary College in London for a ECVDI large animal diagnostic imaging residency in July 2022.
