EVENT DESCRIPTION
VetPD has combined an exhilarating 5-day-long skiing experience at the Spa Hotel Seiblishof **** in Ischgl, near Innsbruck in the Austrian Alps, with a total of 24+ hours of skiing and 20 hours of cutting-edge lectures & case discussions (RACE-accredited) for attendees to choose from.
The following internationally renowned speakers will be involved with this event and are aiming their lectures at experienced general and advanced practitioners: Drs. Davina Anderson (DECVS, UK), Penny Watson (DECVIM, UK) & Dan Lewis (DACVECC/ECVECC, UK).

From Fri – Mon there will be a total of 6-7 hrs of skiing per day with the lectures held between 7:00 - 9:00am and 4:00 - 7:00pm. Every day attendees can choose from two streams of highly illustrated lectures (in English) on a wide range of current topics covering:
- The Acute Abdomen: Critical Care and Exploratory Surgery
- Hepatic Disease (incl. Biopsies, Medical & Surgical Management)
- Feline Medicine
- Soft Tissue Surgery: Oncologic, Wound Management, Abdominal
- Emergency & Critical Care incl. Nutrition
- Internal Medicine: Pancreatitis, Infectious Diseases
- Surgical Approach to BOAS care medicine.
The evenings will be free for leisurely wining and dining, to meet up with old friends and to make new ones.
During the event open and frank discussions are encouraged and the speakers will share their personal experiences with attendees, be it successes or failures. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss diagnostic/therapeutic strategies and cases with the speakers during the lectures or the dedicated case discussions.
On Tuesday there won’t be any lectures or practical sessions, which will allow attendees and their partners/guests for a final dash on the piste before heading home.
*The event fee includes accommodation, breakfast & dinner (excluding drinks), all lectures as well as extensive event notes and a certificate of attendance. Attendees can choose to stay in a single room or can share a room with another attendee at a reduced price. Attendees are also welcome to attend the event with a partner/guest (special guest price available). The event fee does not include flights, airport transfers, ski-passes, lunch or alcoholic drinks. Rooms are allocated at the discretion of VetPD. Early event registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available.

- Liability for accommodation, meals and all other pre-booked components rest with the Hotel Seiblishof Ischgl.
- Attendees are expected to take out comprehensive medical and travel insurance in the event of unforeseen circumstances leading to attendees falling ill or having to cancel their trip to Austria.
Davina qualified from Cambridge in 1989 and 3 years in mixed and then small animal practice before deciding to specialise in Small Animal Surgery. She returned to Cambridge and was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Scholarship. She was awarded a PhD in epidermal stem cell biology in 1997, and stayed on to complete a residency in Small Animal Surgery and later a Lectureship position at the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital, Cambridge.
Davina became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000 and achieved the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery in 2003. In 2006 she established a small animal referral hospital in Winchester which is now a large multi disciplinary hospital with significant clinical research output and trains Specialists in several disciplines. During this time she established internship and residency training programmes and developed an interest in mentoring and business management and development.
Davina has also been an examiner for the ECVS Diploma as well as a member of the ECVS Board of Regents, President and Chair of the ECVS. She has also been involved in undergraduate and post graduate veterinary and veterinary nursing teaching and examinations.
She has experience and expertise in a wide range of soft tissue surgery, but her particular interests are in the fields of oncologic and reconstructive surgery, wound management, clinical auditing and veterinary leadership and mentoring.
More InfoFollowing graduation in 1995 from The University of Cambridge, Dan worked in mixed practice for five years, where he gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia. In 2000, he moved to Petmedics, a large hospital-based emergency clinic in Manchester, where he remained for eight years.
In 2008 Dan embarked upon a residency at The Royal Veterinary College, obtaining his Diploma in Emergency & Critical Care in 2011. Following this, Dan spent a period in charge of the ICU at Bristol vet school before returning to Petmedics. Dan joined the Vets Now 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Hospital, Glasgow in January 2015 as part of our existing ECC team and has since been promoted to National ECC Lead.
Dan is interested in all aspects of critical care, but particularly in septic patients and poorly cats.
More InfoPenny graduated from Cambridge in 1989 and after spending 4 years in mixed first opinion practice, she returned to the medicine department and has stayed ever since. She has RCVS and ECVIM Diplomas in small animal medicine and is an RCVS and European recognized specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She also has a doctorate on chronic pancreatitis in dogs. She is interested in all areas of small animal internal medicine, with particular focus on chronic liver disease in dogs and cats and chronic pancreatitis in dogs.
Penny’s current research is focused on chronic pancreatitis in dogs, investigating potential mechanisms of disease in cavalier king Charles spaniels and English cocker spaniels. She is also actively investigating chronic hepatitis in dogs, particularly English Springer Spaniels and other breeds. She is always interested in hearing from referring vets about cases of chronic hepatitis or chronic pancreatitis in any breed of dog.
