David qualified from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2003, before travelling to New York, USA where he worked for four years in equine veterinary practice. After returning to Ireland he established his own equine ambulatory practice, focusing on imaging and treatment of equine athletes. David completed a European Equine Surgery Residency programme at UCD, Ireland before successfully passing the ECVS examination in February 2017.

David moved to the U.K. in June 2016 and he worked for a year as the surgeon in the Western Counties Equine Hospital in Devon. Before moving to Leahurst Equine Hospital, David spent a year as the surgeon in Bourton Vale Equine Clinic, near Cheltenham. 

David’s main area of interest is orthopaedic surgery and lameness. Whilst his passion is the equine athlete, David is interested in all aspects of surgery. His most recent research involves investigating ultrasound-guided sacroiliac and cervical facet injection techniques. He has also published work in the fields of joint surgery and synovial sepsis.

Dr. W. Wesley Sutter was born in Lander, Wyoming. He received his bachelors of science in biochemistry from Colorado State University in 1997. He then completed his doctor of veterinary medicine from Colorado State University in 2000. Following veterinary school he completed a one-year rotating equine surgery and medicine internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. After completing his internship, Dr. Sutter completed a surgical residency at The Ohio State University where he later served as an assistant professor in equine orthopedic surgery before entering private practice as a surgeon at Ocala Equine Hospital. After 5 years at Ocala Equine Hospital, he co-founded Lexington Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine in Lexington Kentucky. Dr. Sutter is now practicing at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital. His primary interests are in equine orthopedics, upper respiratory surgery and lameness. He is the author of several scientific papers and book chapters.

Dr. Wade Tenney completed his veterinary studies at Colorado State University. He then went on to do an equine private practice internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center where he stayed on for an additional two years as an associate veterinarian. He then joined B.W. Furlong and Associates in Oldwick, New Jersey where he practiced as an ambulatory/clinic veterinarian with a strong focus on reproduction and nuclear scintigraphy. In 2005, Dr. Tenney completed a 1 year fellowship in Large Animal Ultrasound with Dr. Mary Beth Whitcomb and Dr. Betsy Vaughan at the University of California, Davis. Following his fellowship, Dr. Tenney joined Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic on California’s beautiful central coast. During this time he worked as a general practitioner with a strong focus on sports medicine and ultrasound. He also provided care to clients at the HITS Thermal Horse Show during the winter months. In April of 2013, Dr. Tenney joined the Large Animal Ultrasound Department at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. At the Hospital for Large Animals, Dr. Tenney works closely with the Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine and General Surgery services, providing diagnostic ultrasound services to horses throughout the Northeast. Dr. Tenney also spends the winter months at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida providing ultrasound consultations for performance horses in south Florida.
