Tariq came to Great Western Exotics from a private small animal practice in Newport, South Wales in February 2015 and began a one-year internship in Zoological Medicine. In May 2016 he was given the opportunity to stay on and become a European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) Resident, under the supervision of Neil Forbes.

Tariq has always aspired to become a specialist in the field of Zoological Medicine and whilst interested in all aspects of exotic/zoo/wildlife medicine, he has a particular interest in avian and reptilian species.

A lifelong exotic animal enthusiast, Tariq has kept birds on and off since the age of 7, and reptiles full time since the age of 11. His current breeding projects focus predominantly on rare boa and python species. He has been contributing articles to hobbyist magazines such as Practical Reptile Keeping and Parrots Magazine since 2009.
